20 Years After Windows 95

It seems like much more than 20 years have flown by in the ever-changing world of technology since the debut of Windows 95.  That iconic release was ushered in by a $250 million campaign that included a Jay Leno at the launch event and a terrible cyber-sitcom with Jennifer Aniston and Matthew Perry learning about Windows 95.  While many things have changed in the Windows operating system, many of the features from Windows 95 still remain in Windows 10 today.

Some of the features that were launched in Windows 95 that are still in Windows 10 include:

  • Start Menu, although it took a brief hiatus in Windows 8
  • Task Bar
  • Plug-and-Play
  • MSN – although its radically different now than it’s pre-Internet ancestor

If you’d like to take a quick walk down memory lane, here’s the cyber sitcom that shows off Windows 95’s best features.
